From 12.02.2014: LEI required for derivative transactions

03.02.2014: According to Art. 9 of EMIR, firms are required to report to a trade repository the conclusion of all new derivative contracts or the modification or early termination of existing derivative contracts. This regulation will apply from 12/02/2014.

A Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) is required in the reports to identify the parties to the transaction (except natural persons). An LEI can already be applied for as a provisional code in CEIReg. This so-called pre-LEI must be used in the reports pursuant to Art. 9 EMIR until the global LEI allocation system enters into force. Thereafter, the pre-LEI will become the final LEI and the number will remain the same.
